The Siskiyou Farm Bureau Scholarships were organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. The scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture.
Siskiyou County Farm Bureau offers scholarships to local county high school seniors. The Jess and Anita Martin Memorial Scholarship and Ray Platt Memorial scholarship are also available through the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau scholarship program. Each year, the Scholarship Board of Directors will determine the award amounts depending on the funds available. Funds are awarded in two payments upon proof of enrollment to a college with at least one Ag related class.
Any Siskiyou County High School Senior pursuing a career in the agricultural industry may apply. There is no requirement that the college or university be located in California.
Applications are accepted each year between December 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012 and must be accompanied by the following applicable items:
High school transcript(s) (Official)
Two (2) current letters of recommendation
Essay explaining why you deserve this scholarship(500 words minimum)
Typed application form. No hand written applications will be accepted.
If any one of these items is missing, the application will not be considered.
Letters of recommendation must have been written within the last six (6) months and contain the name of the applicant, comments on the applicant's character and abilities, and an opinion of his/her ability to profit from a college education. A parent or close relative cannot be considered as a reference. The name and occupation of each person writing a letter is required.
Once the scholarships recipients are picked, the moneys will be distributed to the recipients in two payments. A copy of a official transcript showing the recipient is enrolled in a minimum of one agriculture class per semester.
